Rakvere's meat plant

Three countries - six companies

HKScan’s Baltic Group is active in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania since 1998. The Baltic Group comprises AS Rakvere Lihakombinaat and its subsidiaries along with AS Tallegg, the largest producer of poultry and eggs in Estonia. Rakvere has three subsidiaries: the Estonian AS Ekseko, the Latvian Rigas Miesnieks A/s and Jelgavas Galas Kombinats A/s and the Lithuanian Klaipedos Maisto Mesos Produktai.

The companies sell under their own brands in all three countries. The best known brand in Estonia is Rakvere, in Latvia Rigas Miesnieks and in Lithuania Klaipedos Maistas. Tallegg products are sold in Latvia under the Rigas Miesnieks brand and in Lithuania under the Klaipedos Maistas brand.

Rakvere's meat plant (on the right) was designed and built by Finnish companies and it was finished in 1990. It is the largest meat factory in the Baltics.

In 2011 the HKScan Group got 7.0% of its net sales but all of 24.7% of its earnings from the Baltic market area.
