HK Ruokatalo's integrated management system includes quality and environmental management and product safety management. The system takes into account the needs and expectations of stakeholder groups, the harmonisation of operational practices, the creation of methology and the achievement of jointly agreed objectives.
HK Ruokatalo's production facilities have EU acceptance. The facilities for slaughtering and cutting operations of pork have also the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) acceptance.
The product safety management system at the plants in Vantaa, Forssa, Mellilä and Säkylä has been granted ISO 22000 certification covering slaughtering, cutting and the manufacture of raw meat products, processed meats and convenience foods.
Alongside taste, product safety is one of the most important quality features of foods. At HK Ruokatalo product safety management is based on the identification of hazards in products, raw materials and production processes, the assessment of the risks to which these give rise and management of such risks. It takes place either through support systems or the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point). HK Ruokatalo's risk management is subject to regular evaluation.
HK Ruokatalo's production facilities have much more extensive in-house quality control system in place than that required by law to ensure the safety and quality of the company's products. Our owncontrol system has been approved by the authorities and is based on risk assessments of the products, raw materials and manufacturing processes and on the management programmes made on these bases.
The laboratories at Vantaa, Forssa, Eura and Outokumpu ensure that quality criteria are met. All the above laboratories are accredited under FINAS.

HK Ruokatalo aims to cause minimum environmental impact when producing food for consumers. This is part of company's operations policy, which also includes compliance with the International Chamber of Commerce's (ICC) principles of sustainable development.

The company's ISO 14001 environmental management system has been built in one location at a time. The Environmental management certification was awarded by Det Norske Veritas. Procurement company HK Agri, which is in charge of procuring living animals to HK Ruokatalo, also has certified ISO 14001 environmental management system.
