HKScan Finland Oy and SRV Construction Ltd have concluded a contract agreement for the construction of HKScan's new production plant in Rauma. The construction contract covers premises of approximately 23 000 m2: production, technical and office facilities as well as a wastewater pre-treatment plant, among others.
The construction of the production plant will commence in early 2016 and it is due for operation during late 2017. The new production plant will replace HKScan's existing production plant in Eura.
Innovative Kariniemen products
HKScan's new production plant will focus on the increasingly expanding poultry segment and the production of broiler products. The investment will increase production capacity and shorten production throughput times and further improve the quality of products. The technology selected for the production plant will make it possible to develop innovative new Kariniemen products for the Group's home and export markets.
All procurement will use solutions pursuant to HKScan's sustainability programme from the points of view of material, energy and environmental efficiency. For the personnel, the new production plant translates into significant improvement in occupational safety and well-being at work through modern processes that meet current requirements. The total value of the investment is approximately EUR 80 million.

HKScan and SRV have common history
SRV’s first project at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s was the construction of the production plant of Estonian Rakvere Lihakombinaat. The production plant was designed by Tuottajain Lihakeskuskunta and built at the same time as HKScan's Vantaa production plant. The technical solutions of the plants were partly identical at the time. Rakvere Lihakombinaat has been part of HKScan Group since 1998, and it is nowadays a part of AS HKScan Estonia.
