Valued at roughly EUR 80 million, the project is one of the largest production investment in HKScan's history, safeguarding long-term employment prospects in the food industry in western Finland.

"We have been producing Finnish food for Finnish consumers for over 100 years. We set out in the poultry business in the 1970s, since which Kariniemen® has grown into Finland's leading poultry brand. This new investment will consolidate our position in the rapidly expanding poultry market and in value-added product groups, in line with our strategic focus areas. Rauma offers us an optimal location with the most advanced zoning solution and infrastructure," says Aki Laiho.

The state-of-the-art technology to be installed at the new plant will enable the Group to develop innovative Kariniemen® novelties for the domestic and export markets. All new equipment will adhere to HKScan's Responsibility Programme, emphasizing material, energy and environmental efficiency. The new plant will adhere to modern work processes complying with the latest occupational health standards, thereby offering personnel significantly improved safety and ergonomic conditions.
