The Financial Times published the Europe’s Climate Leaders list for the third time and HKScan has been included every year. In previous years, the list took into account the reduction of climate emissions from a company's own production relative to its net sales over a five-year period. This year, the criteria were tightened to include the transparency of companies' emission reporting across the value chain, as well as their commitment to respected climate initiatives, such as the CDP climate survey and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

HKScan is committed to setting climate targets under the Science Based Targets initiative. Since 2022, HKScan has reported on its climate impact to CDP, a global non-profit organisation dedicated to assessing the environmental activities of companies. The information gathered by CDP is used by many of HKScan’s stakeholders, primarily investors and customers.

25 companies from Finland, 35 from Sweden and 13 from Denmark were included in the Financial Times Climate Leaders list. Read more on the Financial Times website: https://www.ft.com/climate-leaders-europe-2023

Work towards a carbon-neutral food chain continues

HKScan is creating the future of responsible food production in the home markets of its continuing operations in Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Together with our partners, we do climate work throughout the food chain, from farms to consumers. Our Zero Carbon climate plan aims for a carbon-neutral food chain by the end of 2040.

In recent years, we have taken hundreds of climate actions on farms, in logistics and in our own production. Together with our contract farmers and other partners, we are exploring and testing new ways to reduce the climate impact of the food chain on 80 pilot farms. We will scale up best practices to our contract farmers in all our home markets, for example to promote carbon sequestration.
